ATS Euromaster yesterday announced that an initial order of over £10 million of cold weather tyre stocks for the winter of 2012 into 2013 has been made, the company's biggest winter tyre order so far. It comes less than two years since the firm became the first such national tyre service provider to have launched a comprehensively managed cold weather tyre service for the benefit of fleets in the United Kingdom, including for vehicles that may be rented out on contract hire schemes. It also shows a rise of over £4 million in comparison with the orders that were placed last year.
European demand plus limited manufacturing capacity means that it is vital for both fleets and tyre distributors to secure stocks in the United Kingdom properly, the national tyre and fast-fit specialist believes.
"Last year we assessed customer demand early in 2011 to ensure we ordered the exact sizes of cold weather tyres our fleet customers required," says the group sales director for ATS Euromaster, Peter Fairlie. "It's a strategy which is particularly crucial for larger fleets, which may require anything from several hundred to several thousand cold weather fitments of a particular brand and size at the same time. You simply can't cater for that level of demand without planning ahead."
Although the United Kingdom has experienced a relatively mild winter this time around compared to recent years, ATS Euromaster says that the sale of cold weather tyres has risen significantly.
