The Range Rover Evoque has taken the award for World Design Car of the Year 2012 during the 2012 New York International Auto Show, with the tally of awards for the Evoque, which is available to rent out on car leasing schemes, now reaching more than 100 accolades from all over the world.
The Range Rover Evoque was on the shortlist, which had as many as 46 nominations originally, but managed to beat off tough competition from the other two finalists, the Volkswagen up! and the Citroen DS5.
Five extremely well respected judges from all over the world were on the panel that decided the shortlist, with all of the 66 World Car Jurors, each of whom are high level, well respected automotive journalists from as many as 25 different countries, then voting on those listed. One of those experts was the managing editor of the magazine Auto & Design, Silvia Baruffaldi. "True to the concept car it derives from, it is a contemporary automotive design masterpiece," Baruffaldi says. "Besides not having equals in the markets, it is able to deliver the Land Rover DNA in a more compact, sporty body-style, a premium product without the bad habit of showing off."
The award winning design of the Range Rover Evoque is matched by its excellent, class-leading performance, with agile and dynamic handling across all kinds of terrain and a number of other innovative Range Rover technologies such as Terrain Response.
