Alltrade Aerial & Satellite, an aerial, satellite and solar product distributor based in the United Kingdom, has turned to FleetMatics in order to be able to keep a constant eye on its fleet of vans, some of which may have been rented out on contract hire agreements.
Operations director Richard Poole realised that the company's existing vehicle tracking solution was failing to give the correct amount of information. "Our aim to improve customer service was being hampered by the poor visibility we had on the location of our vehicles," says Poole. "Some deliveries were taking a longer time to arrive at certain locations than we had scheduled and we required more analytical capability in our routing plans. More specifically, we needed a system to provide real-time location data for each of our 13 vehicles to ensure proof of delivery."
After conducting a thorough investigation into a number of GPS providers, Poole concluded that the FleetMatics GPS Tracking Solution provided the best solution to the company's problems. Poole notes that the firm's drivers also believe it provides a far superior alternative to their former GPS system and that the company is already reaping the benefits on a day to day basis via more flexible and better dispatching of their vehicles, which in turn has resulted in an improvement in customer service and a reduction in admin and operational costs.
Poole points out that one of the firm's largest overheads is the cost of fuel, but that those bills are now lowering due to more efficient routing.
